Mr. Molina arrived at Focus 360 ready to make the most of an opportunity he had waited for. Although he had been scheduled to attend several times in the past, work and scheduling conflicts had prevented him from participating. When he finally walked through the door, he came eager to learn, fully engaged, and ready to invest in his future.
Having worked a variety of short-term jobs, Mr. Molina believed he was capable of building a stable career in an office setting. He knew he had the experience, but he also recognized the importance of presenting it effectively. Throughout the program, he refined his résumé, strengthened his interviewing skills, and quickly built connections with his classmates, embracing every opportunity to learn.
Those connections soon proved invaluable. During the job search portion of the program, a classmate shared information about an opening at Los Angeles Downtown Medical Center. Before submitting his application, Mr. Molina met with his facilitator to review his résumé and online application, ensuring every detail reflected his professionalism and experience.
Confident and well prepared, Mr. Molina walked into the interview expecting thoughtful questions about his background. Instead, after reviewing his résumé and asking only a few introductory questions, the interviewer smiled and asked a different question: “When can you start?” Impressed by his professionalism and preparation, the hiring team immediately scheduled him for paid training.
Today, Mr. Molina is building his career as a Non-Clinical Mental Health Worker at Los Angeles Downtown Medical Center, proving that sometimes the opportunity you’ve been preparing for begins with a single conversation.
