From orientation to employment.

Focus 360 is the GAIN Division's structured pathway from a program preview through career planning to active job search.

Orientation/Motivation

An overview of all the LACOE GAIN services available to participants, benefits of being in the program, plus a preview of the next few weeks in Focus 360 — so participants know exactly what to expect.

Focus 360

Focus 360 is a four-week career preparation program designed to help eligible CalWORKs participants build the skills, confidence, and tools needed to pursue employment. Through guided workshops and hands-on support, participants work on effective resumes, interview preparation, job search strategies, workplace expectations, and the habits employers look for when hiring. The program helps participants strengthen their readiness from every angle, giving them a clearer path toward finding and keeping employment.

Job Search

Supports participants who have already received resume assistance and foundational job-readiness preparation. Participants continue building employment skills by searching for opportunities, practicing interviews, refining applications, and receiving guidance as they move toward employment.

ReFocus Job Search

Provides additional support for participants who have not yet found employment after initial job search efforts. Helps participants examine barriers, challenges, or life circumstances affecting their job search, with renewed guidance, encouragement, and practical strategies.

All aspects of job search training — career exploration, identifying transferable skills, completing job applications, building professional resumes, contacting employers, and succeeding in interviews — are areas of specialty for the LACOE GAIN Division and its staff.

Our team is knowledgeable and professional, with strong partnerships across businesses, education providers, and training organizations in every community we serve. We're results-oriented: we constantly analyze and report job-placement outcomes to ensure participants receive valuable assistance while making the most of public funding.

When the path forward needs more than a job board.

START supports participants whose journey to employment includes overcoming significant personal or systemic barriers.

Career Opportunities, Resources & Employment
