For Roza, becoming a Registered Nurse has never been just a career goal. It represents years of sacrifice, perseverance, and a commitment to creating a better future. While receiving CalWORKs assistance, she worked tirelessly through nursing school and, after graduating, enrolled in Focus 360 as she prepared for her RN licensing examination. Her immediate goal was to find employment that would provide financial stability while giving her the flexibility to continue studying.
Just as she was gaining momentum, an unexpected setback threatened to interrupt her progress. Roza’s laptop suddenly stopped working, leaving her unable to participate in virtual classes or prepare for the state board exam. Replacing it was simply beyond her budget.
Rather than allowing the obstacle to define her path, Roza remained focused on her goal. Working alongside her Focus 360 facilitator, additional supportive services were quickly secured through a GAIN Services Worker Supervisor, allowing her to purchase a new laptop and continue moving forward without losing valuable study time.
With intense focus, Roza immersed herself in her job search and, within two weeks of enrolling in Focus 360, accepted a position as a Receptionist/Office Assistant with a local plumbing company. The role provides the financial stability she needed while offering the work-life balance to dedicate her evenings to preparing for her licensing examination.
Today, Roza is studying for her state boards and preparing to take the next step toward becoming a Registered Nurse. Through Focus 360, an unexpected setback became an opportunity to keep moving forward, ensuring that years of hard work remain on course toward the career she has worked so diligently to achieve.
